There are hundreds of vehicles on the market and more are being developed each day. Cars can be incredibly expensive, but many are very cost effective. For under $20,000 there are plenty of cars available. The cheapest cars out there, however, are under $12,000 brand new. Most of cheaper vehicles available are base-model cars. Therefore, they lack many common accessories and features of their more expensive versions, which can be a problem for some.
Cheap Cars Under $13,000
For just under $13,000 the Chevrolet Aveo and Smart Fortwo Pure. Both cars lack basic features like air conditioning and power windows. While the Aveo lacks safety equipment, the Fortwo Pure is stocked with all kinds of safety technology. They both have great fuel economy and will get a person where they need to go, but the lack of so many features that are standard on most cars can be a deterrent. With the most safety equipment for its price range, the Smart Fortwo Pure is the better choice of this pair.
The Two Cheapest Cars Under $11,000
The Nissan Versa 1.6 and Hyundai Accent Blue are the two cheapest vehicles on the market. Both run under $11,000 and are nearly identical in price. Sadly, this model of the Versa comes with a manual transmission and costs more for the automatic version, which can be a problem for many people. Even worse, the Accent Blue has only a manual transmission option with no ability to change it without buying a more expensive car. Both vehicles lack air conditioning and stereos, so the Versa and Accent are about as basic as a car can get. As for safety, both vehicles don’t have many of the advanced safety features that other cars have. Both cars score fairly low in crash tests because they lack such features.
Despite being a very economical choice, purchasing one of the cheapest cars available on the market can bring up various issues. The cars are always stripped versions of their other models and lack even the most basic features, such as air conditioning, stereos, advanced safety technology, and more. Since they lack such features, these cars are less comfortable and less safe than other models. Buying a car for under $14,000 may be a smart choice financially, there is quite a bit of sacrifice involved.
The four cheapest vehicles available are the Hyundai Accent Blue, Nissan Versa 1.6, Chevrolet Aveo, and the Smart Fortwo Pure. For just a few thousand dollars more, the better models of these cars are still affordable and have plenty more features available. If a person is simply looking for the cheapest car out there and doesn’t mind the lack of features, however, then the Nissan Versa 1.6 and Hyundai Accent Blue are the best choices for them.
