How to Clean Car Windows?

01 May

Having clean car windows is a safety feature that cannot be ignored. Dirty or smudged windows can obscure your vision. You can have sparkling clean car windows by following these few simple how to tips.

Use Household Products for Sparkling Clean Windows

You do not need to purchase window cleaners are expensive gadgets to be able to clean your car windows. You can wipe them clean in no time by gathering a few things that you already have.

1. Old newspapers or paper towels
2. A plastic spray bottle
3. White vinegar
4. Water
5. Net covered scrubbing sponge

Start cleaning the windows on the inside of the car. If it is extremely hot out, roll down all of the windows while you work on the back glass and the windshield. Fill the plastic spray bottle 1/4 of the way full of vinegar. Fill the remainder of the bottle with water. Spread newspaper across the back ledge and down the seats to avoid any over spray.

Mist the back glass with the vinegar water spray and immediately wash the window down with crumpled newspaper or paper towels. Work in a small section at a time. The open windows will help with the smell of vinegar. It will not linger for very long even after you have cleaned all of the windows.

Use a back and forth sweeping motion as you wipe. Move your hand from the top of the window to the bottom or side to side in even strokes. This helps to avoid smudging or missing places where you have stopped and started.

Continue to the front wind shield and lay newspaper across the dash to avoid getting the vinegar solution on it. If the wind shield has an extreme tilt to it, crumple up a section of newspaper and spray the vinegar water directly onto the paper. This will make it easier than trying to spray at a difficult angle. Use a dry section of crumpled newspaper to polish the glass to a sparkling shine.

Clean the side windows on the inside of the car using the same technique. Polish the glass with dry newspaper until they shine. Unlike waxing or polishing the car’s paint, it is best to clean the windows in the sunlight as this will help you to see any spots you missed.

Cleaning the Exterior Windows

Outside car windows, especially the wind shield may have dried bugs or bird droppings on them. Use the net covered scrubbing sponge on these surfaces first. Spray small sections with the vinegar water. Dip the sponge in warm water and scrub the dead bugs or bird droppings. Do not use a scouring sponge as it will scratch the glass. Use the sponges that have a netted covering over them.

When the bug splatters or bird droppings are cleaned off, spray the wind shield with the vinegar water and polish it to a sparkle with the crumpled newspaper. Clean the remainder of the outside windows in the same fashion. Avoid getting any of the vinegar water on the car’s painted surface.
