How Much Does it Cost to Tint Car Windows?

14 Nov

Have you been thinking about tinting your car’s windows? Lots of people choose to do this for privacy reasons, and others choose to do it to accentuate the aesthetic appearance of the vehicle. Either way, it’s a nice feature to have for your car, but knowing how much tinted car windows cost is certainly not common knowledge. Of course, there are lots of things to factor into the pricing of tinted windows, and some of these factors can either really bring a price down or can make the price dramatically climb.

One of the first things to consider when you’re trying to come up with how much car tinting will cost is the type of tint film you will be going with. Of course, they’ll all look great in the beginning, but cheaper tinting film may begin to peel, fade, or change to an odd color over a short period of time. There are some situations in life where it’s okay to cut corners on pricing, but this is certainly not one of them. This is one situation where the old saying, “You get what you pay for,” is definitely true. If you can’t afford the expensive tinting film, it’s recommended that you wait to have it done until you can.

Two more big factors that play in the pricing of window tinting are the amount of windows being tinted and the type of car that it is. To put things as simple as possible, the larger the windows or the more surface area that has to be covered by the tinting film, the more price you are going to have to pay. In other cases, some cars’ windows are a bit more difficult to tint. If you end up wondering why you paid so much to have your windows tinted, you might want to take this into consideration.

Of course, when talking about the price of window tinting, this means the future visits to touch the tint film up. Over the course of time, possibly either from a year or up to several years, the tinting will begin to lose its quality and it will experience normal wear and tear. If you plan on keeping your nice tinting film around for awhile, you might want to look into some sort of warranty agreement. This way you can just simply bring the car back in after a certain amount of time should the tint begin to peel, discolor or lose its quality altogether.

Overall, a window tinting job should never exceed $1,000. A lower scale company may charge around $100, while other upper scale companies may charge over $400 to get the job done.

Remember, it’s always important to deal with a reputable company. Having an un-certified friend or shady company do the job for you creates a whole slew of risks, and you could possibly end up regretting it dearly later on down the road. To be on the safe side, stick with a company that you know has a good reputation.
