Overview Of Coast Auto Insurance

Auto Insurance

Established in 1986, Coast Auto Insurance Services Inc. is one of the largest insurance brokers in the state California. Their first location was in Seaside, California, and they now offer 12 locations along the coast. Coast Auto Insurance represents more than 50 insurance companies to provide a large range of insurance services. They are a private company with an estimated annual revenue of more than $500,000. With more than 20 years of serving California customers, Coast Auto Insurance prides itself on their professional reputation of offering competitive rates.

Products

Although they were originally founded to provide auto insurance to customers who couldn’t quality for standard auto insurance products, they now include a variety of products, including preferred markets. Coast Auto Insurance offers commercial and personal auto insurance, as well as coverage for homeowners, renters, condominium, earthquake, RVs, motorcycles, and boats. They also offer an umbrella policy, designed to provide coverage for any liability excluded from a homeowners or auto insurance policy, also referred to as personal catastrophe insurance.

Locations

Although they also offer online quotes, you might want to visit one of their 12 regional offices. With locations in Sunnyvale, San Jose, San Jose South, San Jose East, Gilroy, Capitola, Watsonville, Salinas, Seaside, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo, they provide convenient in-person services to customers located in the central coastal region of California. Through Coast Auto Insurance’s web site, you can easily obtain addresses, telephone numbers, and driving directions for any of their 12 different locations.

Online services

You can obtain a quote or request additional information online, but the majority of Coast Auto Insurance Services require that you contact them by phone or in person. However, their web site does provide in-depth information that may answer your question, without having to contact your agent or Customer Service. Available information includes what you should do following an accident, California’s auto insurance laws, how to obtain proof of insurance, SR-22 laws, and how to handle a DUI. They also explain your rights, provide a glossary of insurance terms, and explain how to add a vehicle.

Available discounts

Because Coast Auto Insurance works with a number of different auto insurance companies, the discounts will vary depending on the partner used. However, the majority of their partners offer standard discounts, including Good Student, Persistency (based on the number of years the driver has maintained continuous coverage), Good Driver, and Mature Driver (for those over age 55). Also, if you insure multiple vehicles on one policy, at the same address, you will qualify for a discount, or you will receive a discount if you have more than one type of policy, such as homeowners and auto coverage. You will also receive a discount if your car has a factory anti-theft device.

Before you shop

When you are ready to obtain a quote, there is some information you should have on-hand. You should know the type of coverage you want (liability, collision, comprehensive), the liability limits you want, and the amount of deductibles. For all drivers, you will need names, age, and gender, as well as driving record and annual mileage driven. For each vehicle, you will need the full VIN, year, and cost, plus any special equipment such as air bags and anti-theft devices.

Special considerations for Mexico

Keep in mind that Mexico typically does not recognize liability auto insurance issued in the State of California. If you will be traveling to Mexico frequently, review the provisions of your policy regarding driving in Mexico. You may wish to purchase separate Mexican auto insurance prior to traveling in that country. Some California insurance policies do provide comprehensive and collision coverage for your vehicle, so make sure you understand what is, and is not, covered before you leave the country.
