Save Money With Bank Repo Cars For Sale

Used Vehicles

With the current state of the economy, lots of cars are being repossessed by banks. Someone else’s loss can be your gain if you know how and where to purchase these bank repo cars. Many bank repo cars for sale are in incredibly good shape both cosmetically and mechanically and are fairly new.

Online Auctions

The internet has expanded to become a massive marketplace. You can find just about everything online, including repossessed cars for sale. Online auctions for bank repossessed cars usually yield a savings of 50% to 60% depending upon the demand for the type of car that you are looking for. Most online repossession auctions have a variety of tools that make it easy to bid and purchase online. You can usually check the seller’s reputation, chat with other bidders, and look up the vehicle’s condition. The best way to verify the vehicle’s condition is to conduct a vehicle history report. Car Fax and Auto Check are good services for this. As with any other auction, be sure that you have the money to back up your bid if you should win.

In Person Auctions

Auctions are great places to buy repo cars. In person auctions allow you to actually see the car that you are bidding on. In many cases, auctions have a preview day in which you are allowed to come look at the repo cars for sale but are not allowed to bid. If the auction that you are interested in offers a preview day, it is definitely in your best interests to go. While you are there, write down the VIN of any car that you are interested in and conduct a vehicle history report when you get home. It may cost you a couple of dollars to conduct the vehicle history report, but it will be money well spent. A couple of dollars spent on the vehicle history report could save you thousands of dollars invested into a car that needs massive repairs. Alternatively, it could open your eyes to the deal of the century. In any case, return to the auction with the vehicle history reports and bid accordingly.

The Bank

Ironically enough, banks often sell their own bank repo cars at a steep discount to the public. They usually do this in an attempt to make back some of the money that they lost in their repossession efforts. These sales are not generally highly advertised, so contact banks that offer auto loans directly and ask about repossession sales that they are having. Banks do not usually have their own sales very often, but when they do, they are absolutely the best way to buy. Banks do a great job of reconditioning any cars that they repossess and get them ready to be sold. When you buy directly from the bank that repossessed the car you have the greatest chance of getting an accurate history on the car. Even so, be certain that you conduct your own vehicle history report just to be on the safe side.

The Newspapers

Newspapers are a common place for repossessed car auctions to be listed. Be aware, though, that this is one of the most obvious places to look. As a result, these auctions tend to be flooded with individuals and dealers that are looking to get great deals on repossessed cars. That means that the ending bid tends to be higher at these auctions that in the other types of auctions previously mentioned. The benefit is that these auctions are easy to find and are generally held relatively frequently. Like when purchasing any other car, do not feel as though you need to walk off the lot with a car the first time you go looking for one. Do some shopping around and make sure that you buy the best repossessed car for your individual needs. A good deal on paper is not necessarily the best deal for you.
