The Toyota Camry has long been known as an exceedingly quiet, efficient, and comfortable ride, if a little short on sporty handling. The 2010 entry is no exception for that rule. New for 2010 the four cylinder engine has been increased from 2.4 to 2.5 liters, lending an extra 11 horsepower the car. Also new for 2010, stability control is now standard across all trim levels. The Camry comes in 3 trim levels, LE, SE, and XLE. The luxurious XLE boasts 16 inch wheels, an upgraded sound system, Bluetooth, dual zone climate control, powered driver and passenger seats, reclining rear seats, wood tone accents, and a moonroof.
Comfort
No doubt about it, the Camry is one of the easiest cars to ride in day in and day out, for hours on end. The ride is buttery soft, Toyota’s engineers have made the interior church-quiet, and the cabin has what may the roomiest feel in the class. All controls are ergonomic and logically placed. Driving and riding in this car will is a soothing mini-vaction in and of itself.
Safety
Camrys come standard with antilock brakes, brake assist, side airbags for the front seat, full length side curtain airbags, and a knee airbag for the driver. In tests conducted by National Highway Traffic Safety Association, the Camry earned a maximum five stars in all frontal and side impact crash tests.
Cons
The Camry is definitely a family hauling wagon, not a roadster. The soft suspension that leads to it being oh so comfortable to drive does not lead to thrilling cornering, and while the new 2.5 liter engine adds abit more ooomph, the machine is still not going to push your shoulder blades into the seat from stop light to stop light. Another quibble is the somewhat shoddy quality of the interior fit and finish that appears from time to time. Nonetheless, this remains one of the most reasonably priced choices for an ideal daily driving car.
