The Subaru Tribeca 3.6R Touring is a mid sized SUV/crossover with a seating capacity of seven. Its size is nearly as large as a Ford Explorer, and properly equipped, it can actually tow one and a quarter tons. The Tribeca comes in three trim levels, Premium, Limited, and Touring. The Touring comes with leather seating for the first two rows, 10 speaker audio system, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth, moonroof, HID headlights, backup camera, and seven spoke alloy wheels.

Utility

The Tribeca has a roomy, comfortable interior, while managing to be slightly smaller than many other crossover SUVs. This can be a boon to those navigating crowded city streets, parking lots, driveways, and other tight spaces that might be challenging in even a slightly larger vehicle. Subaru’s all wheel drive technology is particularly well developed, making the Tribeca one of the best choices for braving foul weather in its class. Flipping the tailgate and dropping the third row of seating to load up a big bill of groceries or more exotic cargo is child’s play.

Driving Impressions

Obviously this machine is no sports car, and those looking for a thrilling drive experience must turn elsewhere. However, the new slightly larger engine gives it a much needed extra dollop of punch in acceleration. The ride is exceedingly smooth and quiet.

Safety

Standard safety features on the Tribeca are anti-lock brakes with brake assist, traction control and stability control with rollover sensing, front seat side airbags, full length side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. In crash test by the government, the Tribeca scored a maximum of five stars for both front and side impacts.

Cons

The interior quality is abit lackluster. The exotic curves of the dash are interesting, but the plastic it is constructed from is hard and quite rough in some places. The A/C system can struggle a bit on hot days, the arrangement of many interior controls is abit awkward, the third row of seating is really rather cramped for anyone except children, and the cargo capacity is 74 cubic feet.
